GUWAHATI, Feb 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said booth-level karyakartas are the principal driving force behind Assam’s development, as over 31,000 grassroots workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took the “Booth Vijay Sankalp” at a massive gathering held at the Veterinary College Ground, Khanapara.
According to party leaders, a total of 31,486 booth workers representing 433 mandals across 39 organisational districts participated in the event and collectively resolved to secure a decisive mandate for the BJP-led NDA in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections and form the government for a third consecutive term.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi described himself first and foremost as a BJP karyakarta and said the dedication and tireless service of booth-level workers remain the real strength behind the party’s organisational success and the nation’s transformation.
He said grassroots workers form the foundation of the party’s growth and asserted that their efforts have played a key role in accelerating development in Assam and across the country.
The Prime Minister also launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the party had historically obstructed Assam’s progress and supported forces that weakened the state’s stability.
Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in his address, said the presence of the Prime Minister had significantly boosted the morale of party workers and reaffirmed the BJP’s resolve to secure a record mandate in the 2026 Assembly elections.
He also said the government remains committed to creating opportunities so that Assamese youth can find employment within the state and live with dignity and security.
State BJP president Dilip Saikia, who delivered the welcome address, called upon karyakartas to take the message of development and the party’s ideology to every voter at the booth level, stating that the upcoming election would revolve around booth-level mobilisation.
The event was also attended by leaders of NDA alliance partners, including Asom Gana Parishad president and minister Atul Bora, AGP working president Keshab Mahanta, Bodoland People’s Front chief Hagrama Mohilary, and UPPL leader Urkhao Gwra Brahma, who reiterated that the alliance would contest unitedly in the next elections.
Among other senior leaders present were Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP national vice-president and Assam election in-charge Baijayant Panda, national general secretary Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, and state organisational general secretary G. R. Ravindra Raju.
Party spokesperson Pranjal Kalita said the gathering witnessed enthusiastic participation, with slogans in support of the BJP and NDA echoing across the venue, reflecting strong grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.
