MARGHERITA, April 17: Bharat Ratna and father of Indian Constitution Babasaheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s 132nd birth anniversary was celebrated on April 14 at Gandhi Vidya Mandir School Margherita with pomp and gaiety where more than 500 people irrespective of caste, creed, race, language and religion were present from far flung areas of 124 no. Margherita Constituency.
Ambedkar jayanti was celebrated by Samata Sainik Dal Tinsukia district committee in collaboration with the people of Margherita region.
The programme began with hoisting of Samata Sainik Dal flag by Gyanowada Bhikkhu head monk of Margherita Buddha Vihar followed by floral tribute and lighting of earthen lamp before the portrait of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar which was done by Gyanowada Bhikkhu, Ram Prasad Ambedkar and other present resource persons.
After that plantation programme was held on the occasion.
Gyanowada Bhikkhu in his inaugural speech said that father of our Constitution Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar told us is to educate, agitate and organise so that we can raise our voice and judge what is good and what is bad.
Students of Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya Bargolai performed a drama name “Jai Bhim” which was directed by D Rama Rao and Rajshekhar Ambedkar both president and general secretary of Chaatra Natya Manch, Bargolai.
On this occasion more than venture 50 venture teachers of Margherita schools were felicitated with an appreciation letter and a Jai Bhim patta.
A Rama Rao president of Samata Sainik Dal Tinsukia district committee said that it is very unfortunate that Telegu people living in Assam are deprived in every aspects whereas Telugu people came to Assam more than 300 years ago to work at coal mines, roads, construction and tea garden areas of Assam but till now no government of Assam have provided a caste certificate to Telugu people residing at Assam which is very unfortunate and undemocratic.
