Cachar DC visits flood affected areas under Udharbandh & Sonai constituency

SILCHAR, May 24: Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli along with officials of various departments visited the flood affected areas under Udharbandh constituency on Tuesday.
On the day, DC Jalli visits Arkatipur, Chappanhal, Mazargram Kashipur areas, from where a drowning case was reported. She also inspected the present flood situation and relief distribution works in nearby GPs as well.
Travelling on a boat, DC Jalli inspected the situation in the flood affected areas including the nearby embankment area and Dighar Kashipur also.
Expressing her views, DC Jalli said that although the flood situation in the district has improved, the low-lying areas are still under water. She requested the flood affected people to become more vigilant as flood waters have entered submerging new areas. She also urged the public, especially the children to be vigilant and keep themselves away from flood waters noting that any untoward incident could happen at any time in the new areas.
During her visit, Udharband circle officer Rituraj Bordoloi, Udharband police station OC Pradeep Haloi, SK Bari and others.
On Monday, DC Jalli along with former MLA Sonai, Aminul Haque Laskar and other officials also visited Rangirghat GP, Mohanpur GP and some parts of Swadhin Bazar GP of East Sonai and distributed essential relief materials to the flood affected people of that area.
DC Jalli also took stock of the situation and problems faced by the flood affected people of Madurbandi village, Barkhalpar, Selurpar area under Sonai constituency and expressed her concern noticing the plight of the cattles due to ongoing flood situation. She instructed the officials to build some sheds for cattles and ensure installation of high mast lamps in the area for cattle shelter.
While sharing his reaction, former Sonai MLA, Aminul Haque Laskar said, “Our DC Keerthi Jalli and her entire team, including circle officer Dipankar Nath and assistant circle officer of Sonai, Bikash Chhetri visited the flood-hit area on a country boat without donning any life jacket and support.”
“She deserves an award like KarmaShree for her active work and courage which is highly commendable,” former Sonai MLA Laskar added.
Former MLA Aminul also expressed his gratitude towards the initiatives and efforts taken by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and said, “This is only possible due to our chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma because in the period of erstwhile government, officers and administrators used to travel by air but today they are rendering their duties dedicatedly by travelling on a boat and through road to reach out to the flood affected people to help them out of the situation.”
