Barpeta, April 23: Two separate incidents, a suspected murder and a suicide, made headlines in Assam’s Barpeta on Tuesday. In the first case, an individual who was arrested on suspicion of theft was reportedly found dead in a police outpost.
The incident occurred in Mandia Gaon village, Baghbor subdivision, Barpeta district. The deceased, identified as Lutfor Rahman alias Rinku Ali, was a resident of Number 4 Bordoloni Gaon village.
Following the incident, locals protested in front of the police outpost, demanding justice for the deceased. In another incident, the lifeless body of a youth was found in the backyard of a newly constructed house in Katajhar Gaon village near Barpeta Road.
The deceased, identified as Babulal Harijan, had injuries on the back of his head. Local police suspect it to be a case of homicide. Further details are awaited.
