Guwahati, Nov 13: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a chargesheet against a high-ranking official of the Northeast Frontier Railways on Monday. The chargesheet is the result of an investigation into a case of disproportionate assets.
The accused, previously the Deputy Chief Engineer (Survey/Construction) of Northeast Frontier Railways, is based in Maligaon, Guwahati. The CBI registered a case against the accused on November 30, 2021, alleging that the official has assets that are disproportionate to his known income sources.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has disclosed that the accused had accumulated assets worth approximately Rs 2,15,28,395, which were disproportionate to his known income.
This was discovered during the period from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2019, and the percentage of disproportionate assets was approximately 89.96 per cent. The CBI also conducted searches in two locations in Jorhat and Guwahati at the accused’s premises, leading to the recovery of documents pertaining to immovable properties and locker keys.
A chargesheet has been filed following a thorough investigation into the case by the central investigating agency.
