The prestigious award was received by Satyaprakash Singh IFS, divisional forest officer (DFO) & field director, Pakke Tiger Reserve, along with Dr Panjit Basumatary, representative of the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), at a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan, Itanagar. Established in 2003, CBRC is a collaborative initiative between the department of environment, forests & climate change, government of Arunachal Pradesh (Arunachal FD), and the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI). Located at Seijosa, West Bank, Pakke Tiger Reserve, the centre serves as a crucial hub for bear conservation, rehabilitation, and welfare.

CBRC operates under a Governing Council, chaired by the principal chief conservator of forests & principal secretary, department of environment & forests, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The DFO of Pakke Tiger Reserve functions as the Member Secretary and Project Leader, ensuring the centre adheres to Central Zoo Authority (CZA) regulations. The forest department provides statutory and logistical support, while WTI oversees project implementation. The initiative was primarily funded by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and other national agencies. One of CBRC’s most remarkable achievements has been the successful rescue and rehabilitation of over 60 Asiatic Black Bear cubs back into the wild. Through meticulous care, scientific methods, and a well-structured rehabilitation process, the centre has given these rescued bears a second chance at life in their natural habitat.
