Addressing the gathering, CEM Gorlosa reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the district’s medical infrastructure for quality healthcare access. He urged the public to adopt healthy lifestyles, including regular physical activities like gym and yoga and appealed to citizens to avoid tobacco consumption to reduce cancer incidence.

Executive Member Samuel Changsan highlighted the transformative significance of the new centre, which will provide early cancer detection, chemotherapy and palliative care within the district, reducing the physical and financial burden on patients who previously had to travel to Silchar or Guwahati.

Dr Iqbal Bahar, representing CCHRC, thanked CEM Gorlosa and noted the facility was developed with NCHAC support and HDFC Ergo General Insurance CSR funding. He said many cancer cases in Dima Hasao are linked to oral and throat cancers.
