CEM Pramod Boro visits families of road accident victims in Kachugaon

KOKRAJHAR, Aug 13: The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro, visited the family members of the tragic road accident victims at Gurufela Hatigarh village under Kachugaon Police Station in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.

A heavy truck collided with a Bolero pickup vehicle on Monday in front of the Kachugaon Mahamaya temple along National Highway 27, where five persons died and another is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Notably, the deceased and injured individuals were Bol Bom devotees, who were returning from the Mahamaya Temple after offering prayers.

The truck, travelling at high speed from Guwahati to Mumbai, hit the Bolero pickup vehicle. Four persons died on the spot, and two others sustained serious injuries.

The injured were rushed to Gossaigaon hospital, where one was declared dead, raising the death toll to five.

The deceased were identified as Sukraman Roy (20), Joy Roy (11), Bappi Ghosh (21), Basudev Roy (26), and Naba Roy.

The CEM of BTR, who is also UPPL president, Boro, accompanied by BTR executive member Ukil Mushahary, ex-MLA Chandi Basumatary, UPPL secretary Somnath Narzary, media secretary Hantigiri Narzary, and youth working president Iraqdao Brahma, visited all five tragic accident victim families at Hatigarh village and met with them. He took stock of the tragic road accident incident and extended his deep condolences for the deaths of the five individuals.

“The tragic accident near Mahamaya Temple in Kachugaon that claimed the lives of five Bol Bom devotees was truly heart-wrenching. We stand in solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident,” Boro said.

He added that he visited Gurufela Hatigarh village to meet the bereaved families of the five Bol Bom devotees who lost their lives in the tragic accident near Mahamaya Temple under Kachugaon Police Station.

“I offered my condolences to the family members of the victims and consoled them in their hour of grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families,” he said.

He also assured that the BTR government, in consultation with the Gossaigaon Sub-divisional Office, is taking stern measures to construct barricades and speed breakers along the national highway in front of the Mahamaya Temple. He mentioned that the BTR government is initiating steps to extend necessary support to the victim families of the tragic road mishap in the days to come.
