It was celebrated with religious fervour on Thursday evening across the Hojai district. Devotees thronged the ghats to pay obeisance to the Sun God, considered the source of life on earth and regarded as the deity who fulfills all wishes. Devotees from various communities, including Assamese, Manipuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Marwari, Karbi, and Nepali, gathered at the ghats to honour the Sun God.
Sun idols were placed for prayers at both the Shiv Bari Ghat and Natun Bazar Ghat. In addition, devotees in Siliguri Basti, Amtola Basti, Tali Basti, Mandoli Gaon, Lanka, and Lumding also followed all rituals to pray to the Sun God. The ghats were beautifully decorated with colourful lights, and illuminated gates were erected. Children enjoyed the day with firecrackers and delicious food.
