Saraswati Puja celebrated with traditional fervour

SIVASAGAR, Feb 14: Saraswati Puja was observed in most of the educational institutions and mandirs in Sivasagar on Wednesday with traditional fervour. However, there was not the usual rush of students and their parents at Fuleswari Girls’ HS, Govt HS, Bezbaruah HS, and Thanuram HS, as the HSSLC examinations have begun and the HSLC examinations are set to begin. In the colleges and primary schools, the usual enthusiasm was observed among the students and teachers of all faiths and communities.

At Sanatan Dharma Namghar, the Saraswati Devi puja was observed with great enthusiasm among the devotees, and the puja was performed by priest Paran Sarma.

 

Our Biswanath Chariali correspondent adds: On Wednesday, on the auspicious occasion of Vasant Panchami, educational institutions nationwide reverently worshipped the goddess of knowledge and wisdom, Devi Saraswati. Similarly, Saraswati Puja was fervently observed across all educational institutions in the greater Biswanath area, including government, provincialised, and public sector schools on Wednesday. The day was marked with great fervour as educational institutions, along with the general public and students, celebrated this special occasion. Students offered prayers, seeking the blessings of the Goddess of wisdom.

Our Demow correspondent adds: Demow and its surrounding areas witnessed the vibrant celebration of Saraswati Puja in educational institutions on Wednesday. Devotees gathered to seek divine blessings for enhanced learning skills. Students adorned in colourful attire made their way to their respective schools in Demow, offering prayers to Goddess Saraswati. Subsequently, both boys and girls took to the streets, adorned in festive attire, to partake in the Saraswati Puja celebrations. Following the Anjali rituals, Prasad was distributed among the students, further enhancing the festive spirit.

Concurrently, Wednesday also marked Valentine’s Day, adding to the day’s festivities.

Our Hojai correspondent adds: Saraswati Puja was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Hojai district on Wednesday. The day, which coincides with Vasant Panchami, the first day of spring, is observed as the day of the birth of the Goddess of Learning and wisdom. Educational institutions celebrated Saraswati Puja with great pomp and religious fervour. Since morning, students donning their best traditional clothes gathered at their respective institutions and celebrated the puja. Small pandals were also put up in some areas, where the local people paid obeisance to the Goddess of Learning.

Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai Girls’ College, Gandhi Vidyapith High School, Marwari Hindi Prathamic Vidyalaya, Rashtra Bhasha High School, along with other schools and educational institutions, celebrated Saraswati Puja with great enthusiasm. Students wearing traditional dresses were seen paying obeisance during the puja. Saraswati idols, brought to the school and college campuses the previous evening, were worshipped in the morning hours followed by cultural programs where students, along with teachers, performed. After that, prasad was distributed.
