Guwahati, July 12: The Assam Pradesh BJP on Tuesday said that the Congress party has no moral right to criticise the BJP-led State Government. The Pradesh BJP asserted that contrary to the Opposition parties’ baseless criticism, the State Government is committed to combating crimes with an iron hand.
In a press communiqué issued to press persons on Tuesday, Pradesh BJP spokesperson Kalyan Gogoi said, ”Assam Pradesh congress committee president Bhupen Borah can forget but people of Assam will never forget how anarchy and mayhem prevailed during Congress regime with killings, rape, theft, burglary, encroachment of land belonging to indigenous people, giving safeguard to criminals, rampant corruption and syndicate raj. As such, Congress has no moral right to criticise the BJP led Government.”
Pradesh BJP spokesperson Gogoi reiterated that the present regime is committed to the people of Assam for making society free from crime and criminals. “People of this State have witnessed how the present Government is working relentlessly towards eradicating the drugs menace, rape and other forms of violence from the society, besides showing empathy and concern for the common man,” he said.
The spokesperson also said that under the dynamic leadership of Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the State is marching ahead on the path of development. Gogoi also claimed that it was during Congress rule when crime reached its peak.
Recently, while talking to the press persons in Guwahati, APCC president Bhupen Borah alleged that Assam chief minister Dr Sharma has miserably been failing to tackle the increasing trend of criminal activities in the state.
