Over 5,000 participants marched from Rampur to Jagun, carrying banners, placards and Congress flags. The rally was led by possible 2026 Assembly candidate Prateek Bordoloi, highlighting the alleged inaction of two-time BJP MLA Bhaskar Sharma in curbing the drug menace in the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC).

Senior Congress leaders present included Margherita Block president Chitra Borgohain, vice president Toufik Khan, general secretary Alfaz Ahmed, Tinsukia District Mahila Congress president Shova Dohotia, and APCC officials Mausam Baruah, Prashanta Mahanta and Runashree Saikia, among others.

Bordoloi said drug trade and abuse have surged across the constituency, but local authorities, including the MLA, police and district administration have failed to act. He urged strict measures to curb illegal drugs, warning that youth addiction threatens the future of society, state and nation.
