DIPHU, Sept. 10: A delegation led by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang called on Union Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi on Tuesday to advocate for key development initiatives in Karbi Anglong.
The delegation proposed the establishment of multipurpose convention centres in minority areas across all constituencies, as well as entrepreneurial and tourism projects.
They also sought a special package for the Aronbarim Indigenous Faith Centre at Langvoku.
In response, Minister Rijiju directed the submission of a Rs 300 crore concept note titled “Integrated Minority Development Clusters,” focusing on education, skill development, health, and livelihood.
The initiative aligns with Clause 2.4 of the Tripartite MoS (2021), which entrusts the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council with minority welfare responsibilities.
The delegation comprised MP Amarsing Tisso; MLAs Darsing Ronghang, Bidya Sing Engleng and Rupsing Teron; Executive Members Surjya Rongphar and Lunsing Teron; former Executive Member Rensing Bey; and Tripartite MoS 2021 signatories Rijak Dera and Thong Teron, among others.
