MARGHERITA, March 28: A patriotic event called “Deshbhakti Samaroh” was held on Friday at Rampur pokikua Tiniali, Jagun in Margherita in Tinsukia to commemorate the birth anniversary of King Prithu.
The event was initiated by Seemanta Chetana Mancha, Purvottar Margherita Sahayak Nagar Samiti with the assistance of Jagun residents.
Seemanta Chetana Mancha is a Border based umbrella organisation of RSS formed in the year 1985 in Rajasthan and in 2006 Seemanta Chetana Mancha, Purvattor was formed at Northeast.
The event began with the lighting of lamps and featured patriotic songs performed by children.
Purnima Upadhyay President of the Organising Committee presided over the meeting where notable attendees such as Ashim Das, Secretary of Seemanta Chetana Manch, Purvottar Margherita Sahayak Nagar Samiti, Bisa Mung Dang Singpho and Bisa Tang Singpho grandson of Freedom fighter Bom Singpho, Lila Nath Sharma Gautam, Bodh Prakash Upadhyay former Zilla Parishad Member, Kasto Sema vice president of All Assam Sema Naga Council and village pradhan of Longtong village, Ankur Gogoi Honorary Member, Northeast Committee, Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar and In-charge of Nagaland State, Henry James member, Assam State Minority Development Board government of Assam, many senior RSS leaders and local residents of this area attended.
The event also honoured the family member of late freedom fighter Bom Singpho and Leela Dhar Gogoi as both the freedom fighters of Margherita region were honoured posthumously for their sincere dedication, love and sacrifice towards greater development of Assam.
Bodh Prakash Upadhyay said that many unsung heroes and kings of our country have been forgotten due to wrong information provided by historians and academicians, which now time has come to honour those Kings and heroes who have sacrifice their lives for our country.
King Prithu also known as Jalpeswara used to be the King of Kamarupa kingdom in Northeastern India, as King Prithu is seen as a benevolent ruler who care for his people and ensured there well being, established a system of good governance during his period said Bodh Prakash Upadhyay.
The attendees discussed King Prithu sacrifice and patriotism, emphasizing the importance of national loyalty as the event aimed to promote patriotism and national pride among the people.
