Development of BTC is top priority: BTC chief Pramod Boro

Key meeting between CCBTR and BTC focuses on socio-economic and educational advancement

GUWAHATI, Sept 4: A pivotal meeting was held on Wednesday between the Coordination Committee of BTR Organizations (CCBTR) and the Government of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) at the Kokrajhar Planetarium & Science Centre Auditorium. The meeting focused on accelerating socio-economic development, advancing education, and strengthening community development across the BTR region.

The discussions centered around key challenges, including the improvement of educational infrastructure and the teacher-student ratio in schools, land-related issues, enhancement of community development programs, peace and harmony, BTR Accord implementation, and anti-social issues like drugs, gambling, child marriage, rape, and human trafficking.

BTC chief Pramod Boro addressed various concerns raised during the discussion and emphasised the Council’s step-by-step approach to resolving them. “Socio-economic, education, and community development of BTR is our first preference,” reaffirmed BTC chief Pramod Boro. He further highlighted the Bodoland Happiness Mission, under which organisations will be invited to discuss the issues faced by their respective tribes, which will be analysed by specialised teams. By 2025, the BTR government aims to prepare a vision and mission document tailored to each community’s needs.

EM of BTC, Ranjit Basumatary, political secretary to CEM and MCLA Madhav Ch Chetry, joint secretary of BTC Rintu Ch Boro, director of Education JP Brahma, and other officials attended the meeting. Twenty-six organisations representing various tribal and non-tribal communities participated in the discussion.
