GUWAHATI, June 2: The Dima Hasao district administration is making final preparations for the counting of votes scheduled for June 4. During a press conference on Friday, district commissioner and district election officer Seemanta Kumar Das assured that the administration is fully prepared for the process.
Votes from five assembly constituencies within the Diphu Lok Sabha constituency will be counted in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. Specifically, the counting of votes for the Haflong Assembly constituency will commence at 8:00 am on June 4 at the District Commissioner’s Office.
Commissioner Das detailed that the counting for the Haflong constituency will occur over 19 rounds on 14 tables. The administration has already appointed a supervisor and two micro-observers to oversee the process, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
Commissioner Das also emphasised the importance of cooperation from the press. Journalists who have received identity cards from the Election Commission of India will have access to a media center located below the counting hall, equipped with all necessary facilities to disseminate information to the public efficiently.
This robust preparation underscores the district administration’s commitment to a smooth and transparent vote-counting process, essential for maintaining public trust in the electoral system.
