HAFLONG, Feb 3: Dima Hasao celebrated its District Foundation Day on Tuesday at the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Complex with great fervour. The event was graced by NCHAC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa as chief guest, along with Chairman Mohet Hojai, executive members, bureaucrats and other dignitaries.
The day began with a vibrant procession from the council premises to Haflong Lake, featuring a special performance by the Assam Police Battalion pipe band. District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey detailed the formation of Dima Hasao and the district’s early administrative history.
Addressing the gathering, CEM Debolal Gorlosa highlighted the council’s focus on balanced and sustainable development, emphasising initiatives to create job opportunities and enhance youth education. Chairman Mohet Hojai also spoke on the district’s growth and developmental journey.
Students from local schools and colleges participated, and local artists presented a spectacular Dimasa dance. The event was attended by senior officials, including executive members of NCHAC, the Deputy Chairman of the District Planning Board, Haflong Town Committee Chairperson and the Dima Hasao Senior Superintendent of Police Ripunjoy Kakati.
