DIPHU, Oct 25: In a spirited display of cultural diversity and unity, the 31st Zonal Karbi Youth Festival (ZKYF) concluded in Diphu on Tuesday. This four-day festival, organised by the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), was a celebration of the rich cultural tapestry of the Karbi community and showcased the harmonious coexistence of diverse communities in the Langsoli-et area, located 13 kilometers from Diphu, Assam.

The festival, which commenced on October 21, was a vibrant tribute to the cultural heritage of the Karbi people. Participants engaged in a wide range of competitions, including traditional folk dances, enchanting songs, and performances on traditional musical instruments. The event also featured contemporary dances and songs, blending traditional and modern cultural expressions.

Beyond the cultural contests, the festival offered thrilling activities for visitors, including an angling competition that allowed fishing enthusiasts to showcase their skills. Running races, such as Thongnokbe kekat and Rongpharpi Rongbe kekat (a race for women), added an element of competition and excitement.

The festival’s attractions extended beyond traditional events, with opportunities for visitors to experience the thrill of activities like ropeway rides, zip-lining, and rippling.

On the festival’s concluding evening, participants and winners received well-deserved recognition through the distribution of prizes, marking the end of a remarkable celebration of Karbi culture and the unity of the communities in the Langsoli-et area.

Johny Timung, president of the Reception Committee for ZKYF Diphu-Manja KCS Zone, expressed his gratitude for the extensive support and collaboration among the diverse communities in the region. Timung stressed the importance of unity among the region’s residents for its development and prosperity, emphasizing that the festival’s success was a testament to their combined efforts.

The ZKYF not only celebrated the Karbi culture but also promoted cultural harmony and unity among various communities living in the Langsoli-et area, embodying the spirit of diversity and togetherness.

In a colorful and vibrant display of culture and unity, the 31st Zonal Karbi Youth Festival in Diphu left a lasting impression on all those who attended, highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage and the strength of its communal bonds.
