MORIGAON, March 18: The District Sweep (System Voter Education and Voter Participation) Cell of Morigaon district administration and Election Department launched a top voter awareness song, election tagline, and election mascot at Pabitra Hat Hall, Morigaon on Monday. The election tagline ‘Our Vote is Priceless Vote’ and the title song were unveiled by senior journalist and citizen of Morigaon, Pratap Hazarika. The song was released in seven languages, including Assamese, Hindi, Karbi, Boro, Nepali, Tiwa, and Bengali. The song is titled – ‘The pride of India, the courage of India, the temple of the people, this democracy’, with the overall planning of the song by district election officer and district commissioner Devashish Sharma.
Considering the presence of various species of bulls in traditional bullfighting and Pabitra Sanctuary in Ahatguri and other places in Morigaon district, an omen named ‘Amulya’ has been taken as an election symbol for voter awareness. District commissioner Devashish Sharma stated that voting is not just a right but a festival. He emphasised that every citizen of the country should exercise their right to vote and participate in this festival. He sought the cooperation of the people in conducting the elections smoothly this time, highlighting that abstaining from voting is not a liability but a real responsibility and duty as citizens of a democratic country to elect worthy representatives.
Senior journalist Pratap Hazarika, speaking at the function, expressed appreciation for presenting ideas and creating awareness through songs. He emphasised the significance of the election title song released today, stating that its melody will attract people. He mentioned the styles of various artists, from Paul Robson and Beethoven to Bhupen Hazarika, Jyoti, Vishnu, Papon, and Zubeen Garg, whose songs have been embraced by people. Hazarika highlighted the potential in the new generation and emphasised that elections are a national festival of India, urging every eligible citizen, irrespective of caste, religion, race, and gender, to participate in this national festival.
Superintendent of Police Hemant Kumar Das, unveiling the Shubhankar at the function, stated that every eligible citizen of society should consider voting as a responsibility. He appreciated the efforts of the District Election Department in creating awareness and urged everyone to vote. Additional district commissioners Pranjal Barua and Biman Das, heads of various departments, and members of the public were present at the meeting.
