BISWANATH CHARIALI, Oct 30: The 22nd All Assam Inter-College Sadananda Chaliha Memorial Elocution and Najeebur Rahman Memorial Quiz Competition were held at Biswanath College on Wednesday with enthusiastic participation from students across the state.
The inaugural session was presided over by Dr Chinta Mani Sharma, Principal of Biswanath College, who welcomed the guests and participants while highlighting the institution’s achievements. The souvenir of the event was inaugurated by Er Kokil Hazarika, president of the Governing Body, who emphasised the importance of extracurricular activities in students’ holistic development. Dr Nipam Kumar Saikia delivered an introductory note on the two eminent personalities in whose memory the competitions were organised.

In the elocution competition, Prof Sushil Chandra Goswami attended as the chief guest, while Dr Nabin Sarmah of Tezpur University, Prof Hemendra Choudhary of Biswanath College of Agriculture, and Dr Dipankar Saikia of Biswanath College served as judges. The topic for the competition was “The FYUGP will prepare students to attain the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.” Bhaswati Borkataky from Darrang College secured the first position, followed by Gyanjyoti Sharma from Chaiduar College and Sameeran Deuri from Rangapara College.
The Najeebur Rahman Memorial Quiz Competition saw participation from 15 teams representing various colleges and universities across Assam. Dilip Kumar Sarmah, Deputy Editor of Asomiya Pratidin, served as the Quiz Master. The first prize went to Bandeep Sharma and Krishanu Chakravarty of Nalbari College, while the second and third prizes were bagged by teams from Cotton University and Dhemaji College respectively. Participants from 17 institutions took part in the two competitions, which concluded successfully under the coordination of Aajnath Tanti, Debate and Symposium secretary of BCSU, with Dr Naresh Thakur as the Teacher-in-Charge.
