KOKRAJHAR, Oct 15: The Estimate Committee of the Assam Legislative Assembly conducted a spot study in Kokrajhar district to assess the progress and status of various schemes implemented by various departments in the district on Saturday.
A six-member committee headed by its chairman Prasanta Phukan, includes Mrinal Saikia, Aminul Islam, Diganta Barman, Rupak Sarma and Abdul Rashid Mandal as members.
As part of their tour, the committee conducted spot visits and inspected various schemes to assess the implementation status at the field level.
They visited water supply schemes at Tinali, Medical College and Cancer Care Centre, erosion protection measures at Beswargaon, CIDF scheme in Kokrajhar Town, CC block road under MGNREGA at Magurmari and an irrigation scheme at Shukanjhora village.
Kokrajhar deputy commissioner, Varnali Deka welcomed the chairman and members of the Estimate Committee and initiated the review meeting in the evening.
The committee, in the presence of Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Varnali Deka, held a review meeting with the heads of departments like PWD (R&B), Water Resources, Soil Conservation, Panchayat and Rural Development, Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Environment and Forests, Agriculture, Excise, Fisheries, Women and Child Development Departments and took an assessment of the schemes based on the estimates at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office, Kokrajhar.
