GUWAHATI, Nov 30: In a heartwarming initiative aimed at empowering children and fostering their skill development, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), in collaboration with the district administration and supported by the State Child Protection Society, organised an “Exhibition cum Mela” at the premises of the DC’S office here on Saturday.
The event was inaugurated by the Cachar DC, Mridul Yadav, in the esteemed presence of additional district commissioner incharge (Social Welfare), Dr Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, assistant commissioner cum incharge District Social Welfare Officer, Anjali Kumari and other key stakeholders, alongside the dedicated staff of the DC office.
The event’s primary objective was to highlight the creativity and hard work of children from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) by showcasing their handmade crafts, artworks, and skill-based projects. It also served as a platform to encourage these children and promote skill development, empowering them to build brighter and more self-reliant futures.
In his inaugural speech, DC Mridul Yadav emphasised the importance of nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for children to shine.
“This Exhibition cum Mela is not just an event, but a movement to recognise and celebrate the potential within every child. By supporting initiatives like these, we aim to ensure that children under the care of CCIs are equipped with the skills and confidence needed to excel in life. I am deeply impressed by the creativity displayed today and extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the children and organisers for this successful effort,” said DC Yadav.
The vibrant stalls at the event drew significant attention, with children showcasing a wide range of handmade products, from decorative items to utility crafts that reflected their imagination and skills. The audience, which included officials, stakeholders, and members of the community, lauded the children’s efforts and expressed their appreciation for the support provided by the district administration and the organisers.
The exhibition stands as a testament to the district administration’s commitment to child welfare and development, aiming to transform lives by fostering skills, creativity, and hope among the younger generation.
