GUWAHATI, July 23: In a significant development, the Assam government has undertaken a major reshuffle in various administrative positions across the state, aiming to optimise governance and improve efficiency in public service delivery.
Biswajit Pegu, IAS, who previously served as the district commissioner of Dibrugarh, has been appointed as the secretary to the government of Assam, Home & Political department. This new role places him at a key position within the state administration.
Varnali Deka, IAS, previously held the positions of district commissioner in Kokrajhar, director of Training at Bodoland Administrative Staff College, Kokrajhar, and secretary of Bodoland Territorial Region. She has now been transferred to Nalbari and will assume the role of district commissioner, contributing her expertise to the district’s development.
Bikram Kairi, IAS, who served as the commissioner of Panchayat & Rural Development, Assam, and MD of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), has been appointed as the district commissioner of Dibrugarh. His experience in rural development is expected to positively impact the district.
Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, IAS, who was serving as the additional district commissioner in charge of Bajali, has been appointed as the district commissioner of Kokrajhar. Additionally, he will continue as the director of Training at Bodoland Administrative Staff College and secretary of Bodoland Territorial Region in an additional capacity.
Jay Shivani, IAS, who previously served as the additional district commissioner in charge of Biswanath, has been transferred to take up the role of commissioner of Panchayat & Rural Development, Assam, and MD of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in an additional capacity.
Neha Yadav, IAS, who was serving as the additional district commissioner in charge of Bokakhat, has been transferred and appointed as the additional district commissioner in charge of Biswanath.
In addition to the above transfers, Gitimoni Phukan, ACS, who held the position of district commissioner in Nalbari, has been appointed as the additional secretary to the government of Assam, Public Health Engineering department, and additional mission director of Jal Jeevan Mission. She will take on these additional responsibilities alongside her current role.
Furthermore, Mridul Kumar Das, ACS, who served as the joint secretary to the government of Assam, Public Health Engineering department, and additional mission director of Jal Jeevan Mission, has been appointed as the additional district commissioner in charge of Bajali.
These changes are expected to bring fresh perspectives and efficiency to the administration, ultimately benefiting the people of Assam.
