MARGHERITA, April 5: The federation of Barua Buddhist Welfare Association of Assam (FBBWAA) welcomed chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent statement in the Assam Cabinet with regards to the recognition of minorities in the state. Notably, CM Sarma also pitched for availing the schematic benefit of the Minority Development Fund granted by the Minority Ministry both at the Union and the state as a matter of appreciation.
Subhash Barua, president and Sibu Talukdar, secretary general of Federation of Barua Buddhist Welfare Association of Assam (FBBWAA) said that Minority meant the population of the area under either Legislative or Administrative jurisdiction.
“We the Magh Barua, an indigenous inhabitant of Assam, and our organisation do hereby extend our warm support to the iconic statement of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. There is a need for a policy to extend a discreet survey by the District Authority of Territory of India/Assam to evaluate the actual population structure of the people who are residing in their respective administrations, as mentioned by the chief minister,” added Talukdar.
