MORIGAON, July 8: A seven-day folk dance workshop featuring ‘Ojapali’ and ‘Deodhoni’ began on Tuesday at Habibarangabari in Morigaon, as part of the state government’s initiative to promote traditional art forms and nurture young talent.
The workshop is being held under the aegis of the Director of Cultural Affairs, Guwahati, and is organised by the Morigaon District Cultural Centre in collaboration with Nath-Sahitya Sanskriti Sanmilan (NSSS), Nath Jugi Unnayan Parishad and Habibarangabari Satriya Sanskriti Mahavidyalaya.

The event was inaugurated by Dr Kamal Ch Nath, Principal of the Mahavidyalaya, who lit the ceremonial lamp.
The session was moderated by NSSS secretary Jitumoni Nath.
A meeting held in connection with the workshop was presided over by NSSS president Lakhyajyoti Nath.
Among those present were Assistant Commissioner Kangkangjyoti Nath, NSSS treasurer Niruprabha Devi, advocate Mrinal Deka, advisor Basanta Kumar Nath, Kalpataru Choudhary, Jayant Kumar Nath, Vice-President Bolen Chandra Barua, Satriya College Principal Surya Nath, Principal Ranjit Bhuyan, and artist Chintu Bardoloi.
Twelve newly elected panchayat representatives and four meritorious students who secured distinction marks were also felicitated during the programme.
