Four People Injured In Leopard Attack

DIBRUGARH, May 14: Four people were injured after a male leopard attack on them when they tried to terrorised the leopard at Tengakhat in upper Assam Dibrugarh.

The incident took place at Pandhua village under Tengakhat police station in Dibrugarh on Friday.

The injured persons were rushed to Tengakhat primary health centre for treatment.

Meanwhile, Forest department placed a cage at the Pandhua village to catch the leopard.

“The leopard was spotted at our village on Friday morning and the youths of the village tried to terrorise the leopard with sticks but the leopard attack on them. The leopard have taken refuge in the jungles of our village,” said a villager.

He added, “For last few days, the leopard has been creating a reign of terror in our village. We informed the forest department about the leopard.”

“We have placed a cage at Pandhua village to catch the leopard. Very soon the leopard will be caged,” a forest official said.

Recently, a man was attacked by a leopard when he tried to take a close up photo of the leopard at Chabua bypass area in upper Assam Dibrugarh.

Khanin Changmai, a veterinarian from Wildlife Trust of India, said, “At first leopard didn’t attack anyone. If they feel that they are threatened then they attack. They always wants safe passage for them if some one block their passage or wants to terrorised them then they will attack anyone to save themselves.”
