Gang Of Roadside Robbers Busted

NAGAON, Feb 23:
 In connection with a missing truck laden with foreign liquor from Nagaon Borghat Bypass Chariali a couple of days back, Nagaon police led by Rupjyoti Kalita, additional superintendent of police busted a gang of roadside robbers and also arrested five persons including the handyman of the truck from Darrang, Sonitpur and Barpeta district respectively on Wednesday night.

Police also seized the missing truck along with 1400 cartoons of foreign liquor from Kharupetia in Darrang district while it was being kept in secret, sources said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, Mofij Ali, Abu Ali, Raju Ali (handyman) and one other. The main kingpin of the incident, was Hazrat Ali, the driver who is still absconding till the time of filing of this report, sources added.

Sources claimed that the truck was carrying the foreign liquor from Bornihat in Meghalaya towards Nagaon and went missing on the way itself near Nagaon Borghat Bypass Chariali on February 15. The gang of hijackers immediately smashed the GPS system attached to the vehicle and took it along with the liquor towards Kharupetia in Darang district via Tezpur.

Meanwhile, a police case was registered in this regard and based on intelligence inputs, Nagaon police led by ASP (Crime) Rupjyoti Kalita carried out a massive operation against the gang of roadside robbers altogether respectively at Sonitpur, Darang and Barpeta during which police from Nagaon were able to achieve the breakthrough and also arrested five culprits and recovered the truck as well as 1400 cartoons of foreign liquor, sources added further.
