Gossaigaon: Srirampur police acting on a tip off information from a reliable source seized 174 kg of ganja from a truck bearing registration no. PB 05-AB-6969 from Assam-Bengal inter-state border Srirampur on Saturday.
The seized ganja was recovered from a secret chamber inside the cabin of the truck. The truck was heading from Tripura to Bihar for the delivery while Srirampur police intercepted the truck.
In the operation the driver and his assistant have been arrested by the police identified as Chotu Kumar Jha and Rabi Kumar Mandal both hails from Darbhanga district in Bihar.
The entire operation was laid by Sanjay Kumar Roy in-charge Simultapu police out post. Police sources said that the seized ganja would be around Rs 50 lakh in the open market.
He again said that police will continue its relentless efforts to create a drug free state.
