GUWAHATI, April 13: To ensure a smooth and peaceful election for the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) election, the police administration of Kamrup (M) has made all necessary security arrangements. In this context, a training programme for police personnel engaged in GMC Election was conducted at Guwahati Commerce College on Wednesday. It may be mentioned that a large number of police personnel along with 74 nos. of sector and 8 nos. of zonal officers were deployed for the GMC Election. The sector officers are of sub-inspector level, while all the 8 zones will be looked after by the DSP level officer and they will be escorted by certain numbers of police personnel. Apart from this, more armed police personnel will be deployed in those polling stations which may be identified as sensitive. Kamrup Metropolitan Police Administration urged the public to dial 100 or 112 numbers if any help was needed. Meanwhile, a grouping programme was held on Wednesday at Guwahati Commerce College for grouping of civil and police as well as presiding and polling officers engaged in GMC Election.
