DIPHU, May 12: Normalcy is returning to Am-ih as the state government has deputed an adequate police force following the May 10 incident when around 10 miscreants from Meghalaya allegedly came to Tadolangso and attacked villagers in Am-ih and burned down a hut.
The police chief of West Karbi Anglong, Adranil Naruah, visited the site on Friday. Ami-ih is 30 km away from Hamren, the district headquarter of West Karbi Anglong.

The Karbi Students Association (KSA-Inglongpho), Thangsing Timung faction of the Hamren Regional Committee, and central executive committee also joined the visit and took note of the situation.
While talking over the phone, the SP said that the situation has returned to normal and that sufficient police force has been deployed to contain any eventuality.
“What we want is mutual understanding on both sides so that there is peaceful co-existence in border areas,” he said.
Samsing Timung, a villager of Am-ih, said that people from Meghalaya attacked two people following an altercation.
Timung also informed him that villagers of surrounding villages like Tadolangso, Am-ih, Langkeroi, Tahpat, Rongkhelan, Mujong, Umpu, Umcherra, Rongpangbong, Umbaso, and Arting want to meet Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, to apprise him of the inter-state border problems and the continuous attack on villagers in border areas by people from Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, the Karbi Students Association (KSA-Inglongpho) of the Thangsing Timung faction of the Hamren regional committee and central executive committee have visited Am-ih and met the villagers.
Speaking before the media, the vice president, KSA, CEC, Mirjeng Kro, said, “We want to request the government of Meghalaya to stop instigating their people to attack our people living in border areas. What we have seen is that the miscreants from Meghalaya are backed by the authorities.”
The KSA urged the people of both sides to maintain peace, as those living in border areas would suffer, he said.
KSA president, Thangsing Timung and other leaders from the CEC and Hamren regional committee were on the visit.
