GUWAHATI, May 6: A training programme on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Disaster Management was organised at Gauhati University by Gauhati University Campus NSS Unit, in collaboration with Civil Defence, Kamrup (Metro) on Tuesday.
The session was inaugurated by Ranjan Kr. Kakati, DSW & Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, Gauhati University. Inaugurating the event Kakati said the involvement of youth can greatly enhance disaster resilience and with proper training and guidance, they can become community leaders and first responders, making a significant difference in saving lives and rebuilding stronger societies.
The training programme was conducted by Noorjaha Begum, Assistant Controller, Assam Civil Defence who explained different Phases of Disaster Management like Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery and also provided practical knowledge and demonstrations on CPR and essential disaster management techniques.
This initiative aims to prepare NSS volunteers to respond effectively in emergency situations, enhancing their capacity to serve the community during crises like fire, earthquakes, flood, natural disasters etc. The vote of thanks was delivered by Rituparna Borah, NSS Programme Officer.
