GUWAHATI, July 16: The Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Borjhar, Guwahati, hosted the Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC) Literary Festival from July 14 to 16, bringing together students from leading IPSC member schools across the country.
The three-day festival was held at the school’s AnuChandra Auditorium and Multi-Sports Complex.
According to an official statement, the festival commenced with an inaugural ceremony on July 14, where Dr Nripen Kumar Dutta, Founder and Principal of MBRS, formally opened the event and welcomed the participating teams.
In his keynote address, Dr Dutta paid tribute to literary and cultural luminaries including Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Padma Bhushan Syed Abdul Malik, Nabakanta Barua, and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
He also acknowledged the contributions of missionary and lexicographer Miles Bronson, after whom the school is named.
Highlighting the importance of creativity in education, Dr Dutta urged schools to nurture students as culturally grounded and socially conscious individuals capable of shaping positive change.
The festival featured a wide range of literary and performing arts events including multi-format English debates, ‘Living Newspaper’ enactments, quiz competitions, creative text writing, spoken word performances, Hindi debates, Sanskrit and Hindi Shlok Gaayan, and a heritage walk.
The festival concluded on July 16 with a Closing and Award-Giving Ceremony, where senior journalist Digjyoti Lahkar presented prizes to the winning participants and teams.
Among the schools that earned accolades were Mayo College Girls’ School (Ajmer, Rajasthan), Daly College and The Emerald Heights (Indore, Madhya Pradesh), Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya (Gwalior), L K Singhania Education Centre (Gotan, Rajasthan), The Assam Valley School (Balipara), and host institution Miles Bronson Residential School (Borjhar, Guwahati).
The event was marked by vibrant participation, showcasing talent, cultural pride, and academic excellence across diverse platforms.
