BOKAJAN, Oct 29: The police on Saturday evening recovered 637.28 gms of heroin worth over 5 crores police at Lahorijan in Karbi Anglong district.
According to sources, the police under the Dillai Police Station carried out a checking on NH 36 when they intercepted a car with the registration number ‘AS 26 E 2081’. On thoroughly checking the car 50 soap cases filled with heroin were found inside the vehicle’s dash board.
The police arrested Mohammad Anash (24) in this connection. The accused is resident of Thoubal district in Manipur.
“After a thorough search of the vehicle, we recovered a huge quantity of drugs, and arrested one peddler, who hails from Manipur,” said Karbi Anglong superintendent of police, Sanjib Kumar Saikia.
When contacted, a senior Assam Police official said that the total value of the seized drugs will be nearly Rs 5.1 crore as per Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) standards. (With inputs from PTI)
