Describing Hojai as a “mini India”, Bhagawati said the central attraction of the District Day programme—the cultural procession—will feature traditional folk dance troupes representing more than 20 ethnic and community groups from across the district.
The procession will also carry awareness campaigns and exhibitions on key social issues such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, prevention of child marriage, drug abuse prevention and road safety.
He added that exhibitions will display replicas of archaeological sites and highlight development initiatives and projects undertaken by various departments, with the objective of promoting Hojai as an emerging tourist destination.
The meeting also decided to felicitate individuals who have made notable contributions to the formation of Hojai district and its social life.
Members of the public have been invited to submit nominations along with relevant details via email at dchojai@gmail.com.
