Illegal occupation & conversion of forest land to revenue land going on in KA: AKADJA

DIPHU, Dec 9: Illegal occupation and conversion of forest land in revenue land has been going on at Naharjan (Reserved Forest) in Karbi Anglong by a group of individuals for the sake of land acquisition compensation from the government, said All Karbi Anglong Development Justice Association (AKADJA) in a press release.
AKADJA said that the organisation has submitted a complaint to the executive member of Land & Revenue, KAAC in this regard and a memorandum was presented to the joint secretary, Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. The principal secretary of KAAC was also given a copy and a similar complaint letter was sent to the Central minister of Roads, Nitin Gadkari.
AKADJA said Naharjan has been a reserved forest land since the inception of Karbi Anglong district and it should remain so. The concerned authority is requested to halt the corruption and stop the payment of compensation to the fraudulent beneficiaries.
