MARGHERITA, May 21: In a steadfast commitment to fostering peace and unity, the Indian Army’s Red Shield Warriors commemorated World Anti-Terrorism Day on Tuesday at Tipong, under the Margherita sub-division of Tinsukia district.
This significant day serves as a reminder of the necessity to combat terrorism and promote a message of non-violence and harmony.
The day’s events began with a solemn ceremony honoring the brave soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism, followed by an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of vigilance and the collective responsibility of every citizen in combating terrorism.
As part of the event, various activities were organised to raise awareness about the dangers of terrorism, the importance of identifying anti-national elements, and the role of citizens and youth in maintaining national security.
Educational lectures and seminars were conducted, aimed at educating participants on recognising and reporting suspicious activities, emphasising the vital role civilians play in safeguarding the nation.
A special exhibition was also held, showcasing the history and achievements of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in counter-terrorism operations. The exhibition also highlighted various recruitment schemes for joining the Central Armed Police Forces and the Army.
