Inter institutes debate competition held at Nagaon Law College

NAGAON, Nov 5: On occasion of celebration of Anti Corruptions Week, National Insurance Company Limited, Nagaon Branch in association with Nagaon Law College and District Legal Service Authority, Nagaon, organised an inter institutes debate competition at Nagaon Law College on Saturday.

The competition was conducted on the topic – ‘Public vigilance alone can curb corruption’. Over 30 meritorious students participated from Tezpur Central University, Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya, Tezpur Law College, Nowgong College (autonomous), ADP College, Kampur College, Concept Secondary School, Ramanujan Secondary School, Renaissance Junior College, Institute of Mass Communication and Media Studies.

Sunit Sarma achieved the first prize in the competition while Lochan Bora and Anjumoni Bhardwaj respectively bagged second and third prizes. Besides, Geetanjali Mallik and Riya Rajkhuwa acquired the jury’s special award in the competition.

Dr Sujata Bhattacharya, principal of Nagaon Law College and senior advocate of Nagaon court as well as the president of college governing body Sarat Chandra Khaund played the role of chairpersons in the debate competition while noted director and drama activist Sapunti Bordoloi and Lakhyajyoti Borthakur were present in the competition as jury members.

Superintendent of police, Nagaon Leena Doley, Mrinal Neopan, secretary general of District Legal Service Authority, Nagaon and Lohita Kutum, branch manager of National Insurance Company Limited, Nagaon Branch, were also present in the programme and spoke on the prevailing issues of corruption in all aspects, a release added.
