Jothumma-Tribal Youth Conclave concludes

KOKRAJHAR, March 31: The three-day confluence of people and ideas in the Jothumma-Tribal Youth Conclave concluded on Thursday with the three-day programme which was held at Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar.

The event was organised by the government of Bodoland Territorial Region where delegates and representatives participated from different autonomous councils across the country including Ladakh District Hills Council, Leh.

Speaking during the concluding session, Bodoland Territorial Region executive member and chairman of the organising committee, Daobaisa Boro said that the Jothumma concluded successfully witnessing a deep and thorough discussion on the welfare and development aspects of the tribal people across the country.

“I am happy that we were able to host delegates from several autonomous councils in the Jothumma 2.0. The three-day event comprised plenaries covering topics, such as: constitutional safeguards of tribals in India, customary laws, gender justice, social entrepreneurship, climate change, and Sustainable Development Goals 2030,” Boro said.

Attending the concluding session as the chief guest, Dr Berlao Kharjee, political advisor to CEM, BTR said, “The colourful Jothumma 2.0 has pleasantly brought forth the onset of Bwisagu celebrations. It is good that interactions & discussions were held and relationships have been established amongst us as a result of this youth conclave.”

“The Jothumma 2.0 has brought in a large number of delegates from various autonomous councils. It was wonderful to have resource persons from all over the country and also participation from diverse tribal communities from India,” said JD Herembeswar Basumatary, the chief convenor of Jothumma 2.0. Delivering the vote of thanks, he said, “Let us move ahead by sharing our experiences and learnings from one another and respecting all of our very rich cultures, traditions and knowledge systems.” The event ended with a proud rendition of the National Anthem by all the guests and participants.
