Jumbo Menace in Dongkamukam

DONGKAMUKAM: A woman was trampled to death in the afternoon at Doloni Teron village, West Karbi Anglong, 6 kmfrom here in the afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Anima Tokbipi (30), wife of Saney Ronghang. Foresters were informed about the incident and they rushed there to take stock of the situation. It may be mentioned that the area is often depredated by wild elephants that come in a herd sometimes numbering in their hundreds.

The elephants attack villages and sugarcane crops in search of food. Paddy silos and rice storage facilities are often ripped open and their contents eaten.
