HOWRAGHAT, Feb 1: In a remarkable display of faith and endurance, a group of devotees from Karbi Anglong district has begun a long-distance foot pilgrimage (Padyatra) to attend the 95th Annual Central Session of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha. The three-day event will be held on February 6–8 at the Jyoti-Bishnu Sammanway Khetra in Dholaibil, Tezpur.

The group from Belguri village commenced their journey on Sunday morning at 6:00 AM. After seeking blessings at the Belguri Primary Branch Namghar, the pilgrims set out on a trek covering approximately 150 kilometres to reach the venue. Key participants include Pabitra Patar, Mamoni Patar, Mina Bora, Babita Deka and Jina Bora (from Vothung-aji).

Recognising the challenges of such a long trek, the devotees have appealed to the public for cooperation and support, especially for safe resting places and overall well-being along the route. “We are extremely happy to undertake this journey, chanting ‘Hari Nam’ for world peace,” the devotees said.

The 95th session in Tezpur is expected to draw lakhs of followers, but the dedication of the Belguri group has already captured local hearts as they march toward the Jyoti-Bishnu Sammanway Khetra.
