KAAC CEM interacts with people, takes stock of grievances

Requests on availability of potable water, establishment of a police outpost among others made

DIPHU, Jan 29: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) held interaction programme at Kathe Bajong village in Lumbajong Member of Autonomous Council constituency in Karbi Anglong district on January 28. The day-long programme concluded in the evening. The KAAC programme aims to get close to the people under its jurisdiction to know their problems and grievances.

In the interaction programme, citizens asked the chief executive member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang was asked questions on land, roads, public utility and wildlife sanctuary.

Sarkari Gaonbura of Langkaijan, Longki Teron sought clarification on the declaration of wildlife sanctuary- Marat Longri and the district status of Langkaijan area.

CEM, Tuliram Ronghang replied “The Marat Longri declaration was done during the Autonomous State Demand Committee regime when Jotson Bey was CEM of KAAC. But, it is under verification and within one year land pattas will be given to the indigenous villagers.”

On Langkaijan where KAAC carried out eviction, the CEM said that the boundary status of a small part is being verified, the land belongs to Karbi Anglong, so it will soon come into the possession of Karbi Anglong.

Senior citizen and villager of Kathe Bajong, Joysing Phura let the CEM know that they have been staying in the area for more than 6 decades and wanted to know about the reasons behind non existence of road in the area. To this, the CEM replied that the road was being built and would soon be completed.

Other requests made by the villagers are availability of potable water, the establishment of a police outpost at Karbi Anglong and Hojai district border at Langkaijan, a market shed, mobile telephone network and tower and health facilities.  

President of BJP, East Karbi Anglong district committee, Roland Killing; MP Amarsing Tisso; MLAs Darsing Ronghang and Bidya Sing Engleng and KAAC’s executive members and officials were present on the occasion.
