He said this while inaugurating Model Anganwadi centres (AWC) in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.

Ronghang inaugurated the Model AWCs in a function held here at Binapani High School playground on Sunday. The CEM inaugurated Dharamnala Model AWC in presence of chairman, Small Scale Industries and MLA, Bidyasing Engleng; Executive Members of KAAC and Members of Autonomous Council, KAAC and officials.

Inaugurating the Model AWC, the CEM said that chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has inaugurated the Model AWCs centrally at Guwahati and in line with that the Model AWCs of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong are inaugurated as well. The Model AWCs have two classrooms, a kitchen and an attached washroom.

The CEM said, “The Anganwadi Helpers and Workers work very hard. They have to nurse as well as teach the children in Model AWCs. It is from Model AWCs that children of BPL families start to learn their lessons. Despite the hard work, their salaries are very low. The Programme Officer (POs) come to office a week in a month and Child Development Project Officer (CDPOs) attend office only one or two weeks in a month. But the Anganwadi Helpers and Workers have to be on duty save for Sundays. The hard work is done by them.”
