KAAC clears budget of inherent subjects

CEM hails budget; terms it as ‘balanced’ one

DIPHU, Feb 23: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) placed the budget of the inherent subjects for the financial year of 2023-24 during a budget session held here at KAAC session hall.

The expected expenditure is Rs 71,565.31 lakh against the expected revenue receipt of Rs 74,764.21 lakh. The budget for the entrusted subjects was also placed. The budget ended without any debate as there was no opposition member.

The chief executive member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said, “The budget session concluded very peacefully. No debate was there as there was no opposition member. This time the budget for SOPD schemes has been increased to 10 percent.”

Stating that the budget for the inherent subject is placed without a deficit, the CEM said, “Every year a deficit budget for inherent subjects is presented, but this time it has been a balanced one. The inherent subjects have been prepared keeping in mind the source of revenue of KAAC.”

The CEM also said a budget provision has been made for holding of festivals for all the tribes and communities in the district.

Earlier, before the start of the budget session an obituary reference was taken up for former Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Bhim Kanta Chauhan, who passed away recently.

A one-minute silence was observed by the members of the House as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
