BOKAJAN, Jan 22: In a major step towards strengthening land security and promoting rural development, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Land and Revenue Department on Thursday organised a large-scale land patta distribution programme at the Balijan DC LP School playground under the initiative “Purthimi Akemang 2.0” (Our Land, Our Rights).
The programme covered beneficiaries from the Sarupathar and Bokajan Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituencies, marking a significant milestone in KAAC’s efforts to ensure formal land ownership for indigenous communities of the region.
Chief Executive Member of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, led the distribution and handed over land pattas to more than 3,000 beneficiaries belonging to various indigenous groups across Karbi Anglong.
Addressing the gathering, Ronghang said providing free-of-cost land pattas, ensuring permanent land settlement, remains a top priority of his administration to guarantee long-term security and stability for the people.
The CEM also announced initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, stating that students who have cleared the HSLC and HS examinations would be eligible for skill development training programmes.
He added that upon completion of the training, the council would facilitate job placement assistance or employment opportunities for the trained youth.
