DIPHU, May 7: The state election commissioner (SEC) of Assam, Alok Kumar said the election to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) will be held by June as the new Council has to be constituted by July.
The state EC was for a two day visit here to assess preparation for the conduct of the KAAC election in the twin hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. During his visit Kumar has convened a meeting with the DC, IAS, Karbi Anglong Dibakar Nath, DIG, Central Range Prabin Ch. Saloi, SP, Karbi Anglong, IPS, Pushpraj Singh and SDO (Civil), Bokajan at DC conference hall.
Informing the media the SEC said, “I had held a meeting with DC, Karbi Anglong; DIG Central Range, SP, SDO (Civil), Bokajan and other officials and discussion was held regarding the conduct of the free and fair election. I also discussed all precautions that need to be taken during the conduct of the election. The KAAC election should be held in June and the result should be declared in the same month as the new Council has to be formed by July, so the election has to be held by June.”
The SEC also visited Hamren and held a meeting with the DC of West Karbi Anglong.
