DIPHU, April 6: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has collected a total revenue of Rs 312 crore for the financial year 2022-23, the CEM, KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said.
The CEM convened a meeting regarding the total revenue collection of 40 departments under the KAAC, at the conference hall of Arboretum cum Craft Centre, Matipung here on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by the executive member (EM), KAAC; Member of Autonomous Council (MACs), principal secretary, KAAC, Mukul Kumar Saikia and heads of all departments.
Coming out from the meeting hall, the CEM informing the media persons said, “We had a revenue meeting with heads of all departments regarding total revenue receipt. It is for the first time in the history of KAAC that Rs 312 crore revenue collection has been achieved. It is a huge amount.”
He further said, “The mines and minerals department has not come under KAAC. When it is under KAAC then the revenue will increase more. A notification has come out by the state government that 40 percent revenue share will go to the state government and 60 percent will belong to the KAAC.”
The CEM also said, “When I first took over as CEM the revenue collection was only Rs 12 crore. With persistent effort and holding of revenue meetings every month there was good improvement in the revenue collection. We are targeting Rs 500 crore revenue collection for 2023-24 financial year, which we hope will be possible.”
He also said the revenue collection has been able to take up various development works and for payment of salaries of KAAC sector employees. The highest revenue collection department is Forest and second comes the excise department.
The CEM also mentioned that online revenue collection has been launched for forests and taxation departments.
