DIPHU, April 5: All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) accused chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang of disrupting APHLC meetings in his Bithung Rengthama, Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency in West Karbi Anglong through his workers.
In a press conference held at District Press Club of Karbi Anglong here on Tuesday, APHLC spokesperson Angtong Engti Kathar said, “It is not only on one to two occasions, but 11 times the party workers of CEM Tuliram Ronghang used to disrupt and terrorise APHLC meetings in his Bithung Rengthama MAC constituency.”
The spokesperson mentioned that on April 2 in a meeting at Ingchin Langso a former APHLC worker who recently joined BJP had taken the lead to disrupt the APHLC meeting.
Engti also termed the CEM as a coward. “All development schemes are implemented in Bithung Rengthama and the rest of 25 MAC constituencies are left with nothing. If elections are fair and peaceful, without money power then he is not going to win. He has no courage to contest from Lumbajong or from other constituencies as there is no sign of development.”
Engti also said as the CEM is perpetrating gunda raj and terrorising people, is not worthy to receive the honorary doctorate degree.
It may be mentioned here that in November last the CEM was conferred with the honorary doctorate degree for peace and education by a Bangalore based Bharat Virtual University.
“You are doing gunda raj and terrorising people and by your character you are not worthy to receive the honorary doctorate degree. You should return your doctorate degree,” Engti demanded.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Karbi Anglong on April 28, the APHLC spokesperson said that whenever any BJP leader from either Centre or the state comes, there is no gain for the people of Karbi Anglong.
“When Union Home minister, Amit Shah came to Dengaon last year it was arranged on an open paddy field. After the meeting the paddy field was polluted with empty water bottles, polythene bags, empty food packets and other garbage. It has hampered the soil and was unfit for cultivation. There was no compensation for it. His visit was a loss for the people of Karbi Anglong as the BJP has given away 10 seats in the open for category in the later signing of MoS by the six-armed organisations with the Central government,” Kathar said.
On the visit of chief minister Dr. Himnata Biswa Sarma in the 30th Karbi Lammet Amei general conference at Dongka Sarpo on March 26, he has declared that in order to include Karbi language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian constitution, Karbis should opt for Devnagiri script. His visit has rather created controversies.
Now the Prime Minister is coming to Karbi Anglong at Loringthepi near Bakulia, but what will the people of Karbi Anglong get from his visit, Kathar asked.
