Khatkhati Stadium nears completion: Boost to sports infra in Bokajan

DIPHU, Oct 26: In a significant step toward enhancing sports infrastructure in Karbi Anglong, Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, on Sunday visited the Khatkhati Stadium site to review the ongoing construction work.

During the inspection, Momin expressed satisfaction over the steady progress of the project, noting that it has reached its final stage of completion.

Engineers and departmental officials accompanying him briefed him on the final phase of the construction, assuring that the remaining work will be completed shortly.

Once inaugurated, the stadium is expected to become a major sporting hub and a centre for youth engagement and talent development in the Bokajan area.

Speaking to the media, Momin emphasised the government’s commitment to promoting sports and physical well-being among the youth, stating that infrastructure projects like the Khatkhati Stadium are vital to nurturing local talent and encouraging community participation.

He added that such developments reflect the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in transforming Assam’s infrastructure landscape and empowering rural and semi-urban regions through sports and recreation.

The upcoming facility will not only serve as a venue for football and athletics but will also host community events and youth training programmes, fostering a culture of discipline, teamwork, and excellence among young athletes.

Momin extended his gratitude to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and all stakeholders for their cooperation and assured that Bokajan will soon witness a vibrant new chapter in its sporting journey once the stadium is officially inaugurated.
