MARGHERITA, Jan 20: The Satra Mukti Sangram Samity (SMSS) and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) on Saturday condemned the arrest of Bidyut Saikia, general secretary and Akash Doley, chief organising secretary of the central committee of KMSS.

The KMSS and SMSS demanded that the CM and Assam DGP, G P Singh initiate measures for the unconditional and immediate release of both the leaders of the KMSS central committee. Both the organizations also threatened to launch massive protests across the state if the two leaders are not released soon.

Rahul Chetry, general secretary of the central committee of the SMSS said, “It is very unfortunate that the Assam Police arrested Bidyut Saikia from his residence situated at Forkating in Golaghat district and Akash Doley from his residence at Guwahati. This is a sign of the ongoing dictatorship in the state.”

The KMSS and SMSS said that reason behind the arrest of the two leaders are yet unknown.

He further said that in the name of Jati, Mati and Bheti (caste, land and foundation), the indigenous innocent people of the state are targeted and arrested forcefully, which is a bad sign in the largest democratic country of the world.

Chetry said, “Himanta Biswa Sarma is the chief minister of all people irrespective of caste, creed, race, language and religion living in the state, but unfortunately he has forgotten all this and is being revengeful on everyone.”
