DIPHU, March 9: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra Karbi Anglong organised the inaugural ceremony of a 15-day Self-Financed Input Dealers Training Programme at Amlokhi on Monday with the objective of enhancing the knowledge and skills of agricultural input dealers.
The programme aims to equip dealers with better understanding of agricultural inputs so that they can provide accurate guidance and services to farmers.
A training manual titled ‘Hatputhi’ was also released during the inaugural session for the benefit of participating dealers.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr Monuj Kumar Doley, Senior Scientist and Head of the KVK, explained the objectives of the training programme and highlighted the crucial role of trained input dealers in guiding farmers on the proper use of seeds, fertilisers and plant protection chemicals.
He said that improving the technical knowledge of dealers would help farmers apply inputs correctly, thereby increasing crop productivity and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr K D Singha, chief scientist of the Zonal Research Station, Diphu, attended the programme as an invited guest and interacted with the trainees.
He encouraged participants to actively engage in the training sessions and emphasised the importance of proper knowledge on safe and efficient use of agricultural chemicals and fertilisers.
Among other dignitaries present was Dr S Maibangsa, Professor of Crop Physiology at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, who will also serve as a resource person during the training sessions.
Altogether 24 trainees from different parts of Karbi Anglong are participating in the programme, which will focus on strengthening their technical understanding of agricultural inputs and improving advisory services for farmers.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks.
